You will be transported back to Nepalgunj airport in the morning in accordance with the flight schedule for their trip to Simikot. The flights on this route are operated by tiny planes with limited seating and flying rounds between sectors. These flights are totally weather-dependent, and flight delays or cancellations on this sector are a regular occurrence on this journey; in the event of delays, we will be forced to wait in Nepalgunj. Meet with our representative upon arrival in Simikot, who will accept your checked bags from the airport and guarantee delivery to your hotel. Spend some time at your guesthouse relaxing.

Day 4
Helicopter flight from Simikot to Hilsa. Drive to Taklakot
Simikot (2910m) – Hilsa (3640m) – Taklakot (4025m)
Distance Covered: 25 mins by helicopter and 22 kms drive
After early breakfast, travel to Simikot Airport to board ourHelicopter to Hilsa . At Hilsa, we must cross the river on the swinging bridge and go to the opposite side to complete Nepal immigration requirements. The bus will be just a few steps ahead of us, on the Chinese side of the border. Board your bus and arrive to China immigration after a brief trip. Drive to Taklakot (Burang) after completing immigration requirements. We must stop again before reaching Taklakot for a customs check at the Burang customs office. We will arrive at Taklakot hotel for the night after a long day. Due to the high altitude, you may feel uneasy. Please do not panic; drink plenty of water, eat healthily, and seek medical assistance if your health condition persists. Lunch and lodging will be at the hotel of Taklakot.
Hilsa is a desolate Nepalese border hamlet with harsh climatic conditions. Because the group will be traveling under a group permission and visa, all members of the group must cross the Nepal-China border together. If you are unable to cross the border for whatever reason, you should relax, do yoga, or engage in other personal hobbies. Staying in Hilsa is not planned, but if it lasts more than a day, we may run out of food and other life necessities. Please bring water bottles, small snacks, dried fruits, energy bars, and other items with you and be patient. Cooperate with the crew members as they do their best to provide you with the most comfortable experience possible in such a hostile environment.
-
Day 5
Rest at Taklakot
4025m
After breakfast at the hotel, you will have free time to acclimate in Taklakot (Burang). You can go for a walk to see what’s going on at the local market. If you forget something for your walk, such as a stick, water bottle, trekking shoes, gloves, or a cap, Taklakot market is the final place to look.
Burang is the gateway town for travel to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar to the north. These are important destinations for Bon, Buddhist, Hindu, Jain and even New Age pilgrims. Traditional cosmology designates Mount Kailash the center of the universe. Great religious merit is attributed to parikrama around the mountain, and to bathing in Lake Mansarovar.

Day 6
Taklakot to Lake Mansarovar
4590m
Distance covered: 70 kms to Chiu Gompa + 90 kms parikrama of Mansarovar by bus
Today is the most expected day as we go to the sacred area of Lake Mansarovar and Mount Kailash. Today we will stay in Chiu Gompa, which is located near Lake Mansarovar and is only 70 kilometers from Taklakot. Today, on your way to the lake, you’ll get your first view of Mount Kailash. On the left side of the road, you will find Rakshas Taal, a large gorgeous lake with turquoise blue water (Lake of the Demons also known as Ravana Taal). According to Hindu mythology, Ravana, the ruler of Lanka, built Lake Rakshas Taal in order to gain superpowers by worshiping Shiva, the god who resides on sacred Mount Kailash. He would make a daily offering of one of his 10 heads as a sacrifice to appease Shiva via acts of devotion and meditation conducted on the banks of Rakshas Taal. Lord Shiva is supposed to have been touched sufficiently by Ravana’s devotion on the tenth day to grant him his request for superpowers.
Proceed to Lake Mansarovar after spending some time in Lake Rakshas Tal to photograph the magnificent scenery. The rest of your time is free to explore the gorgeous Mansarovar Lake, take holy baths, perform rituals and prayers along the riverbank, and engage in other personal activities. Near the lake, our staff will set up a shower tent for the ladies. You might be able to find a suitable location near the lake for doing puja/havan and performing rituals according to your beliefs. The guesthouse will provide meals and lodging.
Mansarovar Lake visit in the night
The Mansarovar Lake will be within a short walk from your guesthouse. You may go to the lake at night to see how beautiful it is in the moonlight. The night view of the holy lake is connected with various tales and stories that tourists may encounter on their own. Though it is safe to go out late at night, it is recommended that you stay in a group and have one of your guides/sherpas with you for assistance.

Day 7
1st Day Kora/Parikrama of Mt. Kailash, 12 kms Trek to Dirapuk
5210 m
12 kms trekking and 06 kms Drive
Early in the morning, freshen up, and drive to Darchen, which is about 35 kilometers from Chiu Gompa. Darchen is the administrative center of the Kailash region, with limited infrastructure and facilities. It is also the base camp of Mt. Kailash, from where the parikrama around the mountain begins. Remember to fill your bottle with hot water and bring the food package that our team provided in the morning. Before starting the trip, all pilgrims get the option to travel through Yama Dwar. Continue traveling on foot or rent a horse/pony to ride after viewing Yama Dwar. (Those who desire to rent a horse/pony and porter may do so on a direct payment basis with the Tibetan guide’s assistance.)
On the right side of your trek, after finishing the 12 km gentle hike, passing through magnificent rivers and grassland, you will see a massive majestic black color mountain towering high. This is Mount Kailash’s North Face. Don’t forget to take some photos and selfies to preserve this incredible picture in your mind’s eye and on your camera. When you arrive in Dirapuk, check into the guesthouse where you will be staying and eating for the night. Because the night will be quite cold and oxygen levels will be low, it is recommended that you relax as much as possible in order to preserve good health for the next day’s trip.
Those who choose to modify their timetable and do not want to go trekking will stay at Darchen and pay for their own lodging, food, and other expenses. If their health allows, they should go to Yama Dwar and get a close look at Mt. Kailash.
-
Day 8
2nd Day Trek to Charan Sparsh (Touching the Feet of Kailash)
5475 m
Distance covered: 06 kms trekking
If the weather is clear, get up very early in the morning before dawn to experience the grandeur of ‘Golden Kailash’ as the first sunlight kisses the summit of the mount. Relax and have a leisurely breakfast before meditating and visiting Dirapuk. After that, begin your trip to Mount Kailash’s north face in order to touch Shiva’s feet. Charan Sparsh is a 6-kilometer hike from Dirapuk Monastery that takes around 6 hours to complete. The trip is difficult since you must go through water and lost stones, but it will be a soul-stirring experience for devotees at the end. According to the Bhagwat Gita, this is also the source of the Bhagirathi River, which is the world’s first water source. We will go near to Mount Kailash in order to touch Lord Shiva’s feet. Perform some puja and prayer here, and then return toward the guesthouse at Dirapuk to unwind and sleep.
-
Day 9
3rd Day Trek to Zuthulpukh via Kuber Kund / Khande Sanglam
5630 m
Distance covered: 18 kms trekking
Early in the morning, before dawn, begin your Inner Kora journey to Zuthulpukh through Khande Sanglam. Remember that when trekking to Khande Sanglam, we must follow the inner kora path from Shiva Stal (Shiva Sthal) and will arrive at Dolma La and Gauri Kund at the end of the journey. The Shiva Stal is a location where devotees leave their possessions or donate a drop of blood or a strand of hair as an act of releasing themselves from the curse of this world and asking to God for forgiveness of all their misdeeds. The Inner kora begins from Shiva Stal and leads to the East Face of Mount Kailash, passing via Kuber Kund, Kuber Parvat, and the East Face of Mount Kailash. After that, you’ll find a level route that leads to Zuthulpukh Gompa (4790m). We will overnight at Zuthulpukh in a lodge or a permanent tent with a bed, bed sheet, and a warm blanket. We’ll get a quick bite to eat before retiring to a comfortable bed to unwind.
Those who do not desire to continue their trip from Dirapuk to Zuthulpukh will return to Darchen. Their additional expenses for lodging, food and other items are to be covered by them at Darchen. Depending on availability, our advisor may be able to assist them in booking a hotel room in Darchen. If you are not practicing parikrama, you can still rest or meditate at Darchen.
Technically, tourists may embark on a day trek to Dolma La pass (5630 m) and Gauri Kund (5330 m) today, then return to Dirapuk for the night, and then go to Inner Kora to Kuber Kund via Khande Sanglam the next day. However, we must travel clockwise from Dirapuk to Dolma La and Gauri Kund, and then return anti-clockwise to Dirapuk for the night, before beginning the inner kora the next morning. However, anti-clockwise parikrama is not regarded religiously acceptable in Hindu ceremonies.
