Day 02
Kathmandu Sightseeing
After breakfast, visit Pashupatinath, Nepal’s most sacred Hindu shrine and one of the most important Shiva sites, which is located on the banks of the Bagmati River followed by Guhyeshwari Temple. Then, drive 5 kilometers north-east of Kathmandu Valley and visit Budhanilkantha (Bishnu Sleeping Temple). The remaining hours of the day is for packing and last-minute shopping should be on your to-do list. Finally, spend a night at hotel.
-
Day 03
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi
(1,460 m. / 4,790 ft.)
We will depart Kathmandu after breakfast for the seven-hour drive to the Langtang Valley. As you leave the Kathmandu Valley, the road rises high over hills, providing spectacular views of the Annapurna Himalayas in the west, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and the Langtang region’s peaks ahead. We’ll pass via Trisuli, a lively town, on our way to Dunche and the Langtang National Park. It’s another hour downhill from Dunche to Syabru Besi, where you’ll spend the night.
-
Day 04
Trek from Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel
The trek today crosses the Bhote Kosi, or ‘Tibet River,’ which flows from Tibet. It then gradually climbs through sub-tropical forests to connect the Syabru Besi route, before ascending into deserted oak and Rhododendron forests. In the woods, keep an eye out for langur monkeys. The climb up to Lama Hotel through the forest is strenuous, but the reward is a comfy recliner in a comfortable lodge in the small settlement.
-
Day 05
Trek from Lama Hotel to Mundu
3,550 m. / 11,646 ft.
The route continues to rise through the forest, with glimpses of Langtang Lirung through the trees on occasion. The route emerges from the forest at Ghora Tabela (3,000 m. / 9,842 ft.), and the mountains loom on both sides of the valley. There used to be a Tibetan resettlement project here, but it is currently just a Nepal Army garrison with no permanent residents. The route continues to ascend gradually as the valley widens, passing a few makeshift communities used by herders who bring their animals to graze in the summer meadows.
The trail’s following section serves as a somber reminder of the earthquake that occurred in 2015. There is currently simply a vast rock field where Langtang village previously stood, with several lodges. Remember the Nepalese and tourists who perished here, and keep in mind that your visit will aid the surviving.
Mundu is only about a half-hour walk away. The historic houses here are a reminder of how all the communities in this valley used to appear. The majority of the lodges and residences in this region are now constructed in a more modern design.
-
Day 06
Trek from Mundu to Kyangjin
3,800 m. / 12,467 ft.
The route gradually climbs from Mundu through yak farms as the valley opens up and the vistas become more expansive. The route arrives in Kyangjin after passing over numerous small streams and moraines. A small monastery and a government-run cheese factory can be found here, and it’s a nice spot to stock up on lunch and afternoon snacks.
Because you will arrive by midday, you will have time to relax or explore the neighborhood in the afternoon. If you’re feeling really active, make your way up the Valley to Langshisha Kharka to take in some of the breathtaking vistas.
-
Day 07
Ascend Kjangjin Ri or explore Kyangjin
4,850 m. / 15,912 ft.
You can relax or go exploring today. You may visit the monastery and cheese factory, stroll up the moraine to observe the Langtang Lirung’s stunning ice faces and falling glaciers, or mount Kyangjin Ri, which is just behind the settlement, for a breathtaking view of the Langtang peaks.
-
Day 08
Trek from Kyangjin to Lama Hotel
Retrace your steps up the valley from Kyangjin, following the Langtang Khola to Mundu village and then on to Ghora Tabela. Certainly, the descent will be quicker than the rise. Continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel after lunch.
-
Day 09
Trek from Lama Hotel to Syabru Besi
Retrace your steps back to Syabru Besi, taking in the tranquility of the wooded hills. If you’re feeling energetic, take the scenic way from Rimche to Syabru Besi through Sherpa Gaon; it’ll take considerably longer to get to your final destination, but it’ll be a beautiful detour.
-
Day 10
Drive from Syabru Besi to Kathmandu
After breakfast, drive return to Kathmandu from Syabru Besi. After arriving in Kathmandu, you will rest for the remainder of the day.
-
Day 11
