Overland Kailash Yatra takes you to the holy land of Mt. Kailash & Mansarovar Lake through the newly opened Nepal-Tibet border of Rasuwagadhi – Kyirong. This route started as an alternative route from September 2017. This Yatra has made easily accessible from the out skirts of Nepal. The team of Sunrise Kailash Pvt. Ltd will embark on a journey to take you to worship and hike around the sacred land of Mt. Kailash.

Kailash Overland Tour starts with a sightseeing tour at the capital city of Nepal. During our guided sightseeing tour we visit UNESCO listed word heritage sites (Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa & Budhanilkantha) inside valley. Then next day we start up Yatra early morning by drive from Kathmandu, we will get ourselves inside the Langtang National Park and cross the Nepal – Tibet border to arrive at Kyirong. From Kyirong,  day by day we will drive to the villages of Saga, Mansarovar and Darchen with great views of the sacred Mt. Kailash, Mt. Gurla – Mandala, Rakshash Lake and the Lake Mansarovar. On day 9, we will start our 3 days long Kailash Kora (Trek). The major attractions of this tour include the sacred peak of Mount Kailash, holy Lake Mansarovar, Yamdwar, the highest pass of Dolma La (5500 meter) and Gauri Kund.

The Kailash Overland Tour takes 13 days for completion based on our default itinerary. The trip can be tailored as you and your preference. The best time to visit the holy Mt.Kailash is between May to August.

Note: After the Mansarovar to Kailash; all the private vehicles are not allowed; So Chinese Deluxe Buses are provided by the Tibet Tourism authority.

  • Day 1 Arrive in Kathmandu

    Airport pickup and transfer to your Hotel. A short briefing about Kailash Manasarovar Yatra before your dinner.

  • Day 2 Kathmandu Sightseeing

    After Breakfast, full day sightseeing of Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath and Budhanilkantha.
    Packing and preparation for the trip.

  • Day 3 Drive Kathmandu to Dhunche or Syabrubesi

    Drive to Dhunche (2000m / 130 km / 6 hrs) or Syabrubesi (1600m / 145 km / 6.5 hrs). Overnight stay Lodge.

  • Day 4 Drive to Kyirong

    Complete immigration & custom formalities in Nepal side & Tibet side at Rasuwagadhi, and then continue further drive to Kerung county (3950m) stay at Guesthouse.

  • Day 5 Drive to Saga

    After Breakfast – Drive to Saga (100 km – 5hrs)

  • Day 6 Drive from Saga to Mansarovar Lake

    Drive towards Manasarovar Lake (450km , 7-8hrs) crossing beautiful places and stay at the shore of the Lake. Fill spiritual water. Parikrama of Manasarovar Lake by vehicle (3 hrs – 90 km)

  • Day 7 Drive to Darchen

     Take holy bath and perform Puja (prayer ritual) at Manasarovar Lake. Drive to Darchen (2hrs)

  • Day 8 First Day of Outer Kora – Trek to Dirapuk

    After short drive, we will reach Tarboche and visit Yama Dwar. This is starting point for Kora. We will trek to Dirapuk (4860 m) which is 12 kms trek (5-6 hrs). You will visit North face of Mt. Kailash and touching the feet of Mt. Kailash (Charan Sparsh). Travelers who do not want to trek around (Parikrama) Kailash can go back to Darchen and wait for rest of the group to arrive from Parikrama.

  • Day 9 Second Day of Outer Kora – On to Zuthulphuk with Trek to Dolma La Pass

    Trek from Dirapuk to Dolma La Pass and proceed to Zuthulpuk (22 km trek for 7-8 hours trek). This is the most difficult journey throughout the yatra since you have to trek up to the 18,600 ft. From descend to Gaurikund and further trek along with the river to Zuthul-puk.

  • Day 10 Drive to Saga

    After short Trek (2 hrs) and reach to the point where the coach will be waiting and we will drive to Darchen and merge with other members who were waiting and drive to Saga.

  • Day 11 Drive back to Kyirong

    Back journey, drive to Kyirong County.

  • Day 12 Drive to Kathmandu

    Drive back to Kathmandu via Rasuwagadhi border completing immigration formalities – around 8-10 hr / 235 km.

  • Day 13 Transfer to Kathmandu Airport

    Certificate of completion will be provided to you from Sunrise Kailash.Free till your flight time. We will drop you at Airport 1-2 hour before flight time

  • Oxygen and oxy- meter for safety with first aid kid (medicine bag).
